Thanksgiving

Here are two pictures illustrating the difference between outside and inside on Thanksgiving in the pacific northwest. Outside: Cold, and not fun. Inside: Cozy, especially with a wood stove.

The thing that I really like about Thanksgiving is that so many people are away, and you can walk around and pretend that you are alone in the world. Stores are closed, the library is closed, and you can not even get rent a video. Life seems pristine, and as noone else is working or doing useful things, you can lay on the couch, watch DVDs, and generally be a slob. Excellent! Add a dog to the mix so that you can pretend you are getting some exercise, and life is perfect. Thanksgiving should be extended to a full week in my opinion.
