Hello Green Card

Today, I got my green card. The surprise was how mundane the actual process was when it finally happened. At 9.45 this morning I showed up, waited in line for a while, surrendered some documents, got my fingerprints taken and signed some papers. And now I am a bona fide permanent resident. This means I can work wherever I want, travel freely (as long as I don't stay away for more than six months at a time), and generally not worry about immigration stuff as much. Hurra! This calls for ethiopean food for celebration, at least. Maybe at San Rafael Cafe, Portlands best ethiopean place
